This is a Carabao-drawn Caretela
Caretela is a horse-drawn carriage used as a mode of transportation in the Philippines up till the ‘60. Now a days you can only see a Caretela in the Walled City or Intramuros, and in the province (like Vigan, Ilocos, Naga, etc). You can also see a Caretela that uses Carabao (Water Buffalo) instead of a horse in some part of the Country for some small time farmers still used this in their work.
Manila Broadcasting Company is mounting a photography competition in line with this year’s Aliwan Fiesta, scheduled on May 1-3 at the CCP Complex in Pasay.
The contest, which carries the theme “Sayaw, Padyak, Indak” is open to both amateur and professional photographers, using digital or film-based cameras. Photos of the streetdance contingents must have been taken during the competition period, and should not have won nor have been published in any book or photography magazine. Entries must be printed in full colour on any brand of photo paper in 8R size (8 inches x 10 inches).

For this year’s Aliwan Fiesta – the annual cultural extravaganza organized by Manila Broadcasting Company and the Cultural Center of the Philippines in cooperation with the cities of Manila and Pasay – dance in its myriad forms once more takes centrestage, as interpreted in the festival context by contingents from various regions all over the country. As early as January, the roster of entries had reached the maximum number set by the organizers – solid proof of how keenly anticipated the festival is.

Anyway, here’s a nice place to go too if you don’t have a long vacation leave and if you are on a budget, the place is Lake Caliraya.
Yehey! Finally, I already visited the Manila Ocean Park. I’ve been planning on going to the park during the opening day but I wasn’t able to go ‘coz we all know that opening days are always jam packed so, I decided to go there 2-3 weeks after. But unfortunately, I was busy with things so I wasn’t able to go as well. But last week when my niece had her training in Tagaytay she spends 5days with us here in Manila, before going back to Bacolod. So when she asked me to go with her in Manila Ocean Park I said yes right away.
