The Ruins in Talisay City
Finally, I was able to visit the new attraction in Negros, The Ruins in Talisay City and had an opportunity for a photo op. Actually this is my second time in the Ruins, but because of the bad weather I wasn’t able to take any photos. So this time, I made sure that I can have even a single shot of the place and I did.

The structure of the RUINS is of Italianate architecture with neo-Romanesque twin columns. Notice the shell-inspired decor at the top edges of the mansion. In New England, they often were homes to ship’s captains. The father of Maria Braga was a captain of the ship. The Mansion was built after the death of Maria Braga and became Don Mariano’s residence with his unmarried children. It was the largest residential structure ever built at that time. Felipe, one of the sons, supervised the construction of the mansion making certain that the A-grade mixture of concrete and its pouring was precisely followed.
The structure met its sad fate in the early part of World War II when the USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East), then guerilla fighters in the Philippines, burnt the mansion to prevent the Japanese forces from utilizing it as their headquarters. Despite the inferno that it underwent, bringing down the roof and the 2-inch wooden floors, the structure still stands and has withstood the test of time minly due to the oversized steel bars and the A-grade mixture of concrete used in its construction.
The monumental size and grandeur of the Ruins bespeaks of the lifestyle of the “hacienderos” in the not-so-distant past.

The Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson Mansion or the popularly known “The Ruins” was opened to the public last January 2008 and since then it has been the favorite venue for weddings, wedding pictorials, debut and parties due to the place romantic and relaxing ambience. The Ruins entrance fee is just Php 25 and they have a cafe where you can watch the sunset while having a cup of coffee. The place is now serving lunch and dinner for guest in an affordable prices too.
HOW TO GET THERE:
For Commuters: just take a Bata-Libertad Jeepney and ask the driver to drop you off at Bangga Rose Lawn. Then hire a tricyle and tell the driver to take you to the Ruins and have fun!
By private car: You can take the access road beside Honda Cars Showroom in Talisay City. It’s a 3-kilometer ride on a single-lane unpaved road that will lead you directly to the Runs. Or you can take the quicker alternative route in Bata. Just take a left turn in Bangga Rose Lawn then go straight it will bring you directly to the place or ask the residents for directions.

Great pics you took of The RUINS. I was reading the footnote you placed on the first photo and may I just request that said footnote be changed, as follows:
” The structure met its sad fate in the early part of World War II when the USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East), then guerilla fighters in the Philippines, burnt the mansion to prevent the Japanese forces from utilizing it as their headquarters.”
Thanks and more power.

the place was used to be our playing ground when i was just a kid…we used to leave in the nearby barangay..Good to note that heirs of Don Lacson preserved the area and made it as a TOURIST SPOT..something that we could be proud of…a history itself.
