Last month, I went to Kabankalan City with my cousin and nieces to join the Kabankalanon in celebrating the 2009 Sinulog Festival. The said festival is celebrated in honour of Senyor Santo Nino for helping the people in driving away the Moro Pirates.

Well, this is my first time to witness the said festival and I really enjoyed my time there. It was an array of colourful costumes and a fun-filled festival. People are all covered in sooth. And if you’re not, a lot of people are willing to wipe your face with it. You really have no choice, like I did so I just smile and enjoyed it.

There were a lot of tourist that flocked the street of Kabankalan, both local and foreigners alike. There’s also a local network covering it but even though the festival is so popular with the Negrense the promotion of the festival in a National level is locking. But all-in-all it was a blast. Everyone had a great time and went home with a smile on their sooth covered faces.
