Coffee Break at Cafe Uma

Tuesday, 4 August 2009, 21:17 | Category : Food, Road Trip

Just recently, Ella, Rowell and me had dinner at Cafe Uma. I have been planning to try this Cafe for quite some time and finally I got the chance to go there last weekend.

Cafe Uma is owned and managed by a Filipino Chef, Jomi Gaston. And it’s first location was then setup at the corner of Association of Negros Producers (ANP) Showroom, but it expanded and it’s now located at 15th Lacson Streets, just beside L’Fisher Hotel. Actually, the cafe is not really hard to miss for it is just along one of the main road in the city, Lacson Street.

Cafe Uma is an upscale Cafe/restaurant in Bacolod, with prices a bit expensive for Bacolod standard but don’t fret for the servings are huge and it’s good for 2 persons. Ella and me really love the place for it’s beautiful and the ambiance is really cozy and relaxing. It’s a great place to hangout and chat with friends. What’s great and interesting with this cafe is the mural wall recalling Bacolod’s past. 2 Thumbs up for this.

Well, since we went to an event earlier and had eaten already, we decided to just hangout, drink a cup of coffee and have a sandwich. We ordered Cafe Uma Club Sandwich which consist of wheat bread, bacon, ham, cheese, grilled chicken salad and fried egg for Php 280, very delicious and it’s good for 2 persons – not bad right? We also ordered Cafe Uma Limoncello Shrimp Pasta – one of the best pasta I ever tasted. It’s linguine in lemon cream sauce with shrimps, arugula and pinenuts. It’s really scrumptious and worth the price for Php 380 but believe me you won’t regret it! And I also ordered a cup of cappuccino or should I say a bowl of cappuccino? As I said they have a really really big servings.

Cafe Uma scrumptious Limoncello Shrimp pasta – yummy!

The only downside of Cafe Uma is the store hour for they close at 9:30PM. But all in all it’s really a great place to relax and unwind with friends over a cup of coffee and delicious food.

Wow, Audrey. These foods look so delicious. They make me wish Cafe Uma is just here in Quezon City or somewhere in Metro Manila. I think I’m going to like the club sandwich and the Limoncello Shrimp Pasta. Siighhh . . . . .

Looks very nice. I don’t tend to buy coffee out, I like here at the house before I go out in the morning and then don’t drink more through the day. Too much caffeine for me. But, it’s quite popular to visit friends and drink coffee all day long. I would never sleep at night if I did that.

Stopped in to say thanks for placing my ad, it’s appreciated. Hope you’ll swing by for a visit, the welcome mats always out.

Cafe Uma (in its original location beside the Negros Showroom) was my favorite hang out for lunch when I was still in Bacolod. I especially loved their organic salad greens.

Sandy, no problem. It’s a pleasure to share your blog to Lagawan’s reader for your blog is really informative and great :D

MsRay, yup the greens in cafe Uma are all organic and fresh. Hope you could visit Bacolod in the near future.

It is better than drinking coffee at starbucks mainly because of the ambiance. In starbucks there are droves of jeepney stopping right in front of you besides the fumes this broken down monstrosities emit the thing that bothers me most is the load of poor people that ride them. they always give me the ‘eff you you rich inconsiderate bastard, sipping coffee on an air conditioned room while the rest of the country live on three rice meals a day. eff you!’ look and that throws me off every time i go there. At least when you go to Cafe uma you dont see to many poor people around and your elitist a$$ can just sit back conscience free. totally recommend this place! perfect hang out for politicians, businessmen in league with politicians, social wannabe’s and demigods ehem! I mean foreigners. sorry. filipino mentality.
you probabaly wont approve my comment as you want the world to think that everything in this country is fine and dandy. hahahahaha
