Discovering the World of Gongs

I was surfing online about Yoga and stuff when a gong caught my interest, actually it was just a simple bowl. But the further I read about the article I learned that it’s a singing bowl.  Well, I haven’t heard of it and I guess it’s alien to some culture, especially the Western part. I also learned that in Buddhist practice, singing bowls are used as a support for meditation, trance induction and prayer.

Well, there are several kinds singing bowls: (1) the Crystal Singing Bowls are specifically made from quartz crystal, (2) Bronze and (3) Panchaloha to name a few. But all of this has the same “sonic” benefits that Tibetan Singing Bowls would have. This bowls are used  in yoga classes, religious practices ‘coz of the healing, meditative benefits. Aside from that it also invokes peace and well-being and relaxation.

Well, isn’t this a great gift or souvenir for a friend? I wish someone will give me one. anyways, that’s it for now – back to Yoga research.

Thanks for your informative blog! Personally, I’ve found incredible Tibetan singing bowls at http://www.Bodhisattva-store.com/listings/ They’ve got a wonderful website with tons of really high quality photos, Mp3 sound samples, videos, history of the bowls, info on how to play bowls, etc. They ship worldwide and offer a 30-day satisfaction or your money back guarantee. And they give a percent of their profits every year to the International Campaign for Tibet. Check it out!
