Just the other day, I was able to visit the ABS-CBN Masskara Village at the second level of Robinsons Place Bacolod, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to take photos of all the 65 mask entries for it was the judging day.  But it’s ok; I could still go there until Sunday (I think) for another photo op.

Anyways, the MassKara Village Mask Making Competition is now on it’s third year and has become a part of the Masskara Festival. It displays 65 colorful, artistic and intricate masks designs from local artist and mask-makers. The mask designs really vary a lot and are made from various materials such as indigenous local bananas, corns, coconut barks, feathers, glass, pearls and silver dusts, to beads, textile bits & pieces, and seashells to name a few.  The masks are really beautiful and the mask-makers are really artistic, imaginative and creative to come up with those intricate details and colorful designs. Kudos to them!

Well, to be able to win the grand prize of Php 35,000 the mask should pass these criteria: wearable, festive and smiling. So, good luck to the judges for the entire mask passed the said criteria. It would really be tough in picking the best one. Anyways, I have a few favorites of my own and to name a few I like the Pokwang Mask and Face of Sweet Mask. Both are lovely, girly and elegant in short it’s really wearable. And I could see myself wearing it for it’s more on a Mardi gras masks. Aside from the two I have 3 more masks that I like but unfortunately I forgot their names. Anyways, here are some of the photos I took yesterday.
