Smiling Mask of Bacolod

“A big heart” is what always all Bacolodnons bring.
This is one of the entry in the MassKara Village Mask-making Competition. The mask is called “Pokwang Mask”
“A big heart” is what always all Bacolodnons bring.
The owner describe his mask as “Pokwang Mask”, Pokwang mask is simple because like “Bacolodnons”, we all struggle for a better and long lasting future… Whatever big or small success we attain, we are chain up, but we stick on God’s way, stay humble and keep in God’s eye.
This mask acknowledge the strong bonding of all “Bacolodnons” to its people and to God. Bacolodnons are similarly comparible to his mask. You know why? – Because whatever or whenever problems come, we are bound to hold in God’s love and manage to smile.
Bacolodnons are always smiling as it seems to be. And many more years will come, we will still be it and we may be compare to all of the mask in this place, we all know that it is already our “manner”. A manner that most of us will long to have.
