Tourists who wanted to visit destinations in three northern Iloilo towns will soon be ferried by solar-powered bancas.

This was disclosed by Atty. Joenar Pueblo of the Iloilo Provincial Council for Culture, Arts, History and Tourism adding that a package is now being readied for the purpose.

Initially, the province is looking at the adjacent towns of Ajuy, Concepcion and Carles, he said.

The municipality of Concepcion already has its ‘Biyaheng Tampisaw’ which brings tourists to three beautiful islands of Agho, Bulubadiangan and Tambaliza.

These islands “serenely set in a sea whose waters range from palest aquamarine and turquoise to deepest sapphire and lapis lazuli”

The islands are also “threaded by unbroken line of white sand.”

On the other hand, the municipality of Carles, especially its ‘Isla de Gigantes’ is known for its 15th century burial caves that are still found in the area.”

One cave even has “a stone elephant and a natural swimming pool.”

Its other islands, Cabugao, Bantigue and Antonia, are also famous for their white sand beaches.

Aside from promoting various tourist destinations in the province, Pueblo said that the plan would help lessen the problem on power aside from its being environment-friendly.

Pueblo added that the province “is waking up.”

“It used to be a sleeping giant in terms of tourism,” he said.
