Northland Resort in Manapla is a perfect place to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the City life. The resort is just 45 minutes to an hour ride from Bacolod City. It is conveniently located just a few meters from the Highway, the restaurant and the Mall.

Well last August, I was fortunate enough as I got the chance to go on an overnight trip and experience Northland Resort for my Birthday, thanks to Portia and Celia!

Located at the Municipality of Manapla, Northland Resort offers wide varieties of rooms, cabana and gazebo that are perfect for your needs, may it be a day trip or an over-night stay. The room rate is affordable as well as the food prices. We only paid Php 350 for our lunch and the serving was really big so my cousin had it wrapped.

The family rooms cost is Php 2,500 (4 adults and 2 children) and they charge Php200 for extra person but we made a bargain with the receptionist and told them we’re 5 in the group with 2kids. She told us it’s ok but didn’t charge us the extra person. Good deal right? My aunt even told me that when they stayed at Northland they just booked the standard room which is Php 1,650 and they were 10 in the room. I was like “uhhh?! How did you fit in there? Someone slept at the bathroom? ” I can just imagine them looking like sardines in a can *smiles* Anyways, if you’re a fitness buff Northland is perfect for you as you’ll have a complimentary use of the resort fitness gym aside from the complimentary breakfast. The resort is also a WiFi zone so you’ll still have a connection to your family and friends.

Well, one will never get bored in Northland Resort Hotel as they offer entertainment and sports facilities. They have a ten-pin bowling lanes where you could challenge your friends or family. They also have a billiard hall, electronic arcade games, Videoke rooms, fitness gym and boxing training arena. The only downside with the resort is the lack of water sports. Well, that’s understandable as it’s a waterpark. You can’t go jet skiing on the pool right? Hmmm… That gives me an idea. Why don’t we try that next time? Just for the heck of it? Or am I on a suicide mission here? Well, don’t mind me.

Anyways, all-in-all Northland Resort Hotel is a perfect place to just chill after a busy weekday. It’s a home away from home where you could bond with your friends and family. Well, we really had fun during our visit. We also tried there ten-pin bowling lanes before we went home. And guess what? Our body ached the next day because we bowled for 3hours.But it was all worth it. Sad to say I lost the game to Portia. Better luck next time right?

Thanks again Portia and Celia!!! Until our next trip guys.

Tara Lagaw ta!

It’s rainy season but when Mr. Sun decided to show up, we decided to visit one of Bago City’s promising Resort, the Pataan Mountain Resort.

Pataan Mountain Resort is located at Sitio Pata-an, Brgy. Mailum, Bago City. The mountain resort is owned by a retired policeman and has been operating for 10 years. Sadly, I only heard of the mountain resort 2 or 3 years ago and was able to visit it only last year.

Anyways, Pata-an Mountain Resort is a bit far from Bacolod City and out of the way since there’s no public transportation going there. You need to bring your own car or hire a van, but if you are adventurous you could brave the rocky long ride in a habal-habal (motorcycle) or tricycle and be amazed with the scenic view along the way. I tell you it’s worth all the bumping you’ll experience.

The resort is now fully developed with 12 cottages, swimming pool, canteen and pavilion. One can also go camping during the night for a mere fee or if they want they can rent rooms too.

Well, we really had fun on our visit there, even though it rain really hard after lunch. The falls doesn’t have a big basin but it will do. It’s like you’re having a massage under the falls and it’s really relaxing. Well, it’s really a great way of bonding with your family and friends as its safe. Nature lover will surely have a great time here, as well as those who are not nature lover. The walk from the cottages going to the falls will only took you 2 or 3 minutes, unlike in Kipot falls.

Well, it is advisable to bring your own food going to Pata-an even though they offer a menu for it’s a bit pricey. Or should a say really really pricey?

Anyways, for more information on Pata-an Mountain Resort in Bago City Negros Occidental please call the resort at (034) 476-1330, 433-0443 or 434-6854.

How to get There:

From Bacolod: Go to the Libertad Market, hop on a Road Star Bus bound for Ma-ao Public Market for Php 30. Then at Ma-ao Public Market ride a tricyle or habal-habal and tell the driver that you’ll be going in Pata-an. The ride will cost you around Php 150. Just ask some locals for direction along the way and I’m sure they’ll be happy to help you.

Last week, I got the chance to go on an overnight trip in the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio City and get to experience what the City has to offer. Baguio is a perfect place to relax and unwind from the hussle and bustle of the Metro.

My trip in Baguio was made possible by Mines View Park Hotel where we stayed. The hotel tagline is “Truly amazing… simply unforgettable…” and it was really true! It was really unforgettable! And one of the best place in Baguio ever! As it offers a breathtaking view of the Cordillera’s lush scenery. Aside from that the hotel is conveniently located just a few meters from the famous Mines View Park and Good Shepherd.

You don’t need to go any further if you want spectacular scenery for you only need to open your windows and behold the beautiful and lush panoramic view of the mountain and forest. And within the comforts of the hotel, one could enjoy and experience the tranquility and warmth of home.

Aside from the beautiful view, the hotel also boasts of its modern amenities like Gym, Spa, Salon, Boardroom, private balconies in all their rooms, free Wi-Fi, function hall equipped with white screen projector for audiovisual presentations, a sound and PA system & lightning equipment and a playground for kids. It’s perfect for a family getaway and for business trip too. The also have a Cafe, Bar and Restaurant which offer their very own yummy gastronomic innovation – the strawberry sinigang and their exclusive “Bibingcrepe” which we had fun making.

I’ve read some online reviews about the hotel and most of it were negative but during my over night stay there the staff were really warm and friendly, especially Sir Buddy who kept on telling us to eat more and no left-over. He was really nice and funny, as well as the bellboy who chatted with us, sorry forgot to ask for his name.

Yummy Strawberry sinigang in Mines View Park Hotel

Anyways, all-in-all Mines View Park hotel is the place to be when in Baguio City. It’s far from the hassle and bustle of the City life, yet near enough to all the City’s attraction. It’s a modern luxury hotel, yet so affordable. It’s a haven one can come home to.

A lot of people have been asking me for budget hotels in Boracay since I’ve stayed there for a year and a half. I couldn’t name any budget hotel that I can recommend at that time for what’s affordable for me would be expensive to others and vise versa. I always tell them to look for guesthouse or backpacking lodges because these types of accommodation offers lower rates than hotels. Well, if you want an affordable Boracay accommodation that has easy access to the Beach then I can recommend Villa Romero Boracay.

Villa Romero Boracay is your home away from home. It is located in a small alley in station 3. It’s not a beach front property but don’t fret for that doesn’t matter since it’s just a few steps away from the front beach. It may not be right smack at the hustle and bustle of central Boracay but at the same time it’s a stone throw away and a pleasant walk to Boracay’s bars, souvenir shops, the market, restaurant, dive shops and more.

Villa Romero Boracay has 26 uniquely designed rooms for guest to have a different holiday experience. Each room has different themes from Gypsy style, to Safari, Tropical and Aristocrat just to name a few. These rooms will surely give guest a one of a kind unique holiday experience. The resort has a homey atmosphere and is equipped with the amenities that you need for relaxation and comfort.

Their featured rooms also have kitchen and balcony. Depending on the season, their room rates range from 1,500(2 pax) – 8,000 (20pax Group Room). But if you’re really on a budget you can also avail of their fan rooms which is good for 2 persons for as low as 600(low season) – 1,200 (super peak season).

Imagine you lying lazily on the pristine clear blue waters in Palawan, or basking on the powdery white sands of Boracay or dipping into the crystal waters of Puerto Galera. Well you can do all of this via 7107 Island Cruise – the first inter island cruise ship in the Philippines that is owned by Mr. Esteban Tajanlangit.

The 7107 Island Cruise ship begins service to Coron-Puerto Galera-Boracay route and provides five star luxury accommodations with its 137 rooms that can accommodate more than 400 guests. Aside from the luxury accommodation one would not have a dull moment in this ship for it has a casino, bar, restaurant, three sundecks, spa, piano bar, gym and conference rooms.

7107 Island Cruise Ships sail to the most beautiful islands in the Philippines. The ship’s destination includes Coron, Calamianes Islands, Boracay, Ditaytayan Island, Malcapuya Island, Culion Island, Panlaitan Island, Calauit Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, Puerto Galera and the Apo Reef. And as I said it’s affordable for you can cruise the Philippines for as low as Php3,500 via 7107 Islands Cruise Ship.

Ever dream of being a pirate? Don’t fret for you can enjoy this simple pleasure just within the City. Caribbean Waterpark & Resotel can offer you this exciting experience with their pirate/Caribbean themed Resort and what’s good is that one can’t miss it for it’s situated at the heart of Bacolod – Located in Bacolod’s fading entertainment capital, the Goldenfields Commercial Complex.

Just recently, a spur of the moment decision led my nieces and me to Caribbean Waterpark & Resotel. It’s a new resort with complete hotel facilities, gigantic pool and the biggest water slide in Negros Occidental. Aside from that, the place looks very inviting for the Resort stonewalls are decorated with colorful flaglets.

My nieces had a lot of fun playing at the pool for it has a wrecked pirate ship in the middle were they can explore and be pirate for a moment and treasures & chest also that can be found underwater. Well, unlike them I didn’t have my swimming gear so I just enjoyed the view and the cool breeze even though I really want to dive in with them.

I told me niece not the try the slide for I heard some (not that good) stories regarding it so I’m just making sure that she won’t get in any trouble but being young, adventurous and daring she still did. And to top that she tried the blue one which is 30 feet high. But fortunately, the manager told me that the management already made adjustment to the resorts slide to make it safe for children. 2 thumbs up for them!!!

All in all, it was a fun experience and kids will surely love the place. Not just kids but also adult for Caribbean Waterpark & Resortel can bring out the kid in us. So what are you waiting for? Enjoying being a pirate for a day or just spend time with your family. Anyways, the resort is not that expensive. For only Php100/pax you can have an enjoyable bonding time with your kids or friends. For more information please visit the Resort’s website.

Recently, I went on a 4hr drive from Bacolod City to Sipalay, the southern Part of Negros, to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the City life. This is my 2nd time in the said City but this sleepy town of Sipalay or the “Jewel of the South” still amazed me to no end. The place really has a lot of things and places to boost of.

One of the places they can really be proud of is the Takatuka Lodge and Diving Resort. The resort is a “colorful & wacky piece of paradise”. And it is owned by the Kalitta Brothers, Marc & Kalle and their wives, Cathy and Evarose.

Takatuka Lodge: The Cave Room

Takatuka is located at Langub Beach, Barangay Nauhang, Sipalay City approximately 164km south of Bacolod City. From Barangay Nauhang, one should board a motorized banca to take you to the Beach front of Takatuka. The place is really isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city life that one could really relax and unwind in it. You have an option to relax and enjoy the beautiful of the beach or be one with nature at the back of the resort where one could also go boating around the mangrove.

Takatuka came from the popular European children’s storybook written by Astrid Lindgren, “Pipi in the Land of Takatuka”. The owners really want their paradise to have a wacky, crazy and artistic feel in it, which you can’t find anywhere else. And yes, this is the only place where you can find junk or ordinary things turned into a recycled Art. A flower pot made of radio sets and old rubber shoes. A telephone, remote control & camera turned into a light switch. Toy cars and guns turned into a chandelier. Bicycle turned into post and a cellphone cases covered post in the dining area. And one of my favorite things in this resort is there bathrooms.

Pull down the chain to turn on the faucet. Cool right?

Well, Takatuka bathrooms are really wacky, funky and artistically designed. Each one is so colorful and so wackily decorated that it gives the place a playful atmosphere. One of the attraction in the resort is the crazy bathroom of the Negrito Hut for everything in this place were designed to look crooked – the windows, mirror, tiles, doors, floors are really crazy but so creatively put. One of my favorite in this bathroom is the old water pump that was turned into a toilet paper holder. Aside from that, one of the craziest toilet seats in Takatuka was made of thumbtacks. Who in their right mind would think of this? I guess only the Kalitta Brothers and I’ll give them 2 thumbs up for this.

The owner and the staffs are really friendly and hardworking. They even gave us a house tour – Thanks to Rose!!! So, we had a chance to see all the crazy, wacky and funky designs of the 8 rooms. One of my favorite is the newly opened MadMix Room for it opens into another world – the world of madness. The room was designed with Red Horse beer bottle as a post, toilet bowl as a shower, and a lot of crazy light switch and interior arts. This room represents me best or should I say the crazy side of me?

Aside from the place, the food in Takatuka are really good, creatively presented and artistically named. The meals are a combination of Swiss, French, German, American and Asian Cuisine at affordable prices. My favorite is the Kikeritzel – A meat-eater’s favorite made of a crispy breaded chicken “Schnitzel” bursting with juicy ham, melting cheese, pickles and fragrant herbs, topped with “Jager Style” rich and creamy mushroom gravy. It’s really delicious!

Sorry! I can’t tell you anything about the dive school in Takatuka for I haven’t tried it when I was there, maybe next time. The diving rates in Takatuka are not that expensive and they also have an accredited diving instructor.

All in all, Takatuka Lodge is an amazing experience. And I’ll definitely recommend it to everyone. The Resort is colorful, wacky and a fun place to be. The owners and the staffs are really friendly and hardworking. And the food is great and yet very affordable. So in short: 2 thumbs up for Takatuka!
