Caretela

This is a Carabao-drawn Caretela

Caretela  is a horse-drawn carriage used as a mode of transportation in the Philippines up till the ‘60. Now a days you can only see a Caretela in the Walled City or Intramuros, and in the province (like Vigan, Ilocos, Naga, etc). You can also see a Caretela that uses Carabao (Water Buffalo) instead of a horse in some part of the Country for some small time farmers still used this in their work.

Manila Ocean Park

Posted by AudreyRose under Road Trip

Yehey! Finally, I already visited the Manila Ocean Park. I’ve been planning on going to the park during the opening day but I wasn’t able to go ‘coz we all know that opening days are always jam packed so, I decided to go there 2-3 weeks after. But unfortunately, I was busy with things so I wasn’t able to go as well. But last week when my niece had her training in Tagaytay she spends 5days with us here in Manila, before going back to Bacolod. So when she asked me to go with her in Manila Ocean Park I said yes right away.

Unexpected Urban Oasis

Posted by AudreyRose under Road Trip, Travel

Yesterday, I went to the Manila Orchidarium & Butterfly Pavilion with my friend Monic and I was really amazed that amidst this polluted city there is such a place like this. A place where you can relax and enjoy the flowers, the indigenous plants, tree ferns, experience a rainforest and a man made waterfalls.

Manila Ocean Park

Posted by AudreyRose under Road Trip

Come and discover the world under the sea at the Manila Ocean Park. The first world-class marine themed park to adopt a fusion concept, bringing together an Oceanarium, open water marine habitat, a mall, hotel, restaurant and multi-purpose function facilities in one complex. This is the Philippines’ first state-of-the-art oceanarium and the first largest aquarium to be built in the country. You will see here a wide variety of species, such as sharks, fishes and invertebrates indigenous to the country and the Southeast Asia. It has a 25-meter long underwater tunnel that are surrounded by awesome creature. And this will be a great experience for Filipinos for this is comparable to the world’s best.

Well, people don’t have to go to far away places just to learn and experience swimming and diving with fishes for you can do this at the Manila Ocean Park Open Water Marine Habitat. But unfortunately you will have to hold on a little longer for the Open water Marine Habitat will be opening on July 2008, while the 100 room Boutique Hotel will be opening on April 2008.

Well, this will be located behind the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta Park, Manila, Philippines 1000. For more information please visit Manila Ocean Park website. So see you at the opening!
