My first iamninoy shirt designed by MyPhilippines. The iamninoy campaign just want to create a better Philippines by awakening the youth to know and live up to the ideals that Ninoy sacrificed his life for. But not to an extreme heroism, just simple small deeds of selfless act, like offering a seat to an elderly, picking up litter and showing respect to others. So are you ready to be Ninoy?
“I AM NINOY is a celebration of hope and idealism, a freedom movement, a community of heroes —- heroes who give out of sheer selflessness and serve the country the best way they can.” iamninoy

A former family resort here has grown into a world-class facility and a landmark in Sarangani’s tourism landscape.

Started as a rest house of the family of businessman Marfenio Tan about 10 years ago, Isla Parilla is now an “AA” class resort.

A resort within a man-made island, Isla Parilla has 24-hour room service, profuse amenities, refreshing and solemn ambiance, and personalized services.

“Here you can find true solemnity of a wedding vow and other private meetings while enjoying fresh air, unique dishes of fresh seafood, or just go fishing at the lake,” manager Wanchin Tan-Delfino said.

Apparently, these gave the resort a double “A” ranking.

A waiter and bartending seminar was held here last week for Isla Parilla, Sarangani Highlands and other hotel personnel in General Santos City by the Department of Tourism Region XII and the Sarangani Tourism Industry Association, Incorporated.

“We are ready for our guests that will come as the MunaTo provincial festival is nearing,” Delfino said.

Isla Parilla is two kilometers away from the Provincial Capitol where the November 27 to 29 MunaTo Festival will be held.

The 6th MunaTo Festival and 16th Foundation Anniversary celebrate Sarangani’s pride in colorful arts and investment potentials with its theme “Ang Galing Mo, Sarangan”. (PNA)

The more than 4,000 visitors in this mountain resort in the recent observance of All Saints Day still found old charms and peace in Baguio as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines”, according to the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).

Public information officer of BCPO, PO3 Virgilio Hidalgo, said that even with swollen crowd at the cemeteries and downtown Baguio Saturday and Sunday, “the policemen and civilian volunteers were able to maintain orderly traffic flow, ward-off possible petty criminals, guard abandoned homes and give first-time visitors due assistance.”

He said the heightened security alert of the office resulted to the arrest of three suspects in an attempted robbery of a local pawnshop.

“Our observance of the All Saints Day was very peaceful and orderly. The policemen and support groups have to do their jobs well to support our main industry which is tourism.

“Now that the vehicles volume is back to normal, we still do our job to make traffic flow orderly because our transient students and workers are now returning to their work or respective provinces,” he said.(PNA)

Last weekend, Havaianas, the world’s most famous flip-flops brand, hosted Playback—a Filipino street games festival that is held at the Bonifacio High Street, Taguig. Havaianas aims to revive the Filipino street games like patintero, tumbang preso, lakad lata, kick (sipa), chinese garter and piko. These games have been entertaining kids long before PSP, Xbox, Gameboy, Nintendo, Wii and the internet captured the interest of the new generation.

Havaianas turned the ground of Bonifacio High Street into a big playground, where kids and those who are young at heart played to their hearts content, even the foreigners.

It was really a great experience to play the games I was once a master of, like chinese garter and piko. I didn’t realize that I’d still be good at it playing up to the last level. I played the games how they were supposed to be played unlike some players…(oops! Sorry, no offense meant).

I remember that when I was a kid, I used to see kids playing these games in school, in my neighborhood and even outside the church on Sundays. But nowadays you can’t even see younger generations playing these games. So it was really nice of Havaianas to organize this event to show the younger generation that there is life outside computers.

Aside from that, those who played the game got a chance to win premium prizes from Havaianas. If you finished all 6 games with a flying color, you’ll be given a new and improved Havaianas flip-flop. But don’t worry, nobody went home empty-handed. Those who didn’t finished the games got a chance to play a roll-ball where you can have the chance to get a lanyard, kite, pencil, coloring Book, colored pencil, havaianas keychain, reg magnets and a whole lot more. Media people also recieved goodie bags

Participants could also play sungka in the visitors’ area
